Intercostal Nerve to Long Thoracic Nerve Transfer for the Treatment of Winged Scapula: A Cadaveric Feasibility Study
There are very few surgical options available for treating a patient with winged scapula caused by a long thoracic nerve (LTN) injury. Therefore, we devised a novel technique based on a cadaveric dissection whereby regional intercostal nerves (ICN) were harvested and transposed to the adjacent LTN in 10 embalmed cadavers (20 sides). The LTN was identified along the lateral border of the serratu...
متن کاملObturator to Femoral Nerve Transfer for Femoral Nerve Palsy Using a Modified Technique
Though uncommon, femoral nerve palsies are potentially devastating injuries which can occur as a result of penetrating trauma or malignancies, however the most common cause is inadvertent iatrogenic injury following intra abdominal surgery such as gynaecological/vascular surgery or total hip replacement [1]. We present a case of iatrogenic femoral nerve injury with a delayed presentation result...
متن کاملLumbosacral nerve root avulsions: MR imaging demonstration of acute abnormalities.
Most of the previously reported lumbosacral nerve root avulsions presented with pseudomeningoceles at the time of delayed initial imaging. We report a case of traumatic lumbosacral nerve root injury associated with an isolated femur fracture and demonstrate the evolution of pseudomeningoceles following nerve root avulsions and edema in the perineural fat identified on the initial MR imaging.
متن کاملAnatomic Variations of Brachial Plexus: A Cadaveric Study
Introduction: The brachial plexus is responsible for the innervation to the upper limb and some parts of the thorax. Variations in the branching of the brachial plexus are common and have been reported in 65.3% of the population. The variations (Atypical communication) of brachial plexus have significant clinical and surgical importance. Methods: In this study 10 upper limbs which belonged...
متن کاملCost of neuromodulation therapies for overactive bladder: percutaneous tibial nerve stimulation versus sacral nerve stimulation.
PURPOSE Conservative therapy and antimuscarinic agents are first line therapies for overactive bladder. Patients refractory to treatment are candidates for neuromodulation therapy. We estimated the costs and cost-effectiveness of percutaneous tibial nerve stimulation and sacral nerve stimulation. MATERIALS AND METHODS A Markov model was constructed to simulate the total costs and effectivenes...
